Next show: The Hop, Wed 23rd May

Hello each and every one of you. Feel our beneficent gaze and our clammy, over familiar hand on your shoulder.

We’ll be playing a free gig at The Hop, Sheffield on Wenesday 23rd May and we’re very much looking forward to it. The venue’s pretty new so here’s where to find it.

In addition to that, Pisco Presents is returning. It will be a Saturday, once every other month. The first will be June 9th. We have an excellent line up! We have a new venue! More details to follow shortly. We’re very excited about doing these again.

Finally, we’re writing and we’re recording. The plan to put out a 4 track EP has morphed into a plan to put out two individual singles, and then record the ridiculous concept album that we’re currently working on.

In short, all is well in the world ‘o Pisco

Exposed Album Review – 9/10

Fantastic review of AHTTCL from Exposed Magazine:

In your face, Melua.

The Basics

A local four-piece known for their frenetic live performances and eclectic musical repertoire, Pisco Sour Hour like to touch upon some of life’s more peculiar subject matters. Expect an album that will transition from the sublime to the bizarre quicker than you can say ‘hedonistic mediaeval chess grandmaster’.

The Verdict

In our culture of recycling, it’s a relief when something truly original comes along. How many other songs do you know that tackle a bank manager going on a murderous rampage with his pet monkey (‘Spot Monkey’)?

It’s the album’s heterogeneousness that causes it to be such a refreshing listen; one moment the band are channelling Primal Scream jamming with Television on ‘Country Music’, juxtaposed with the sax-laden lounge-ska of ‘Tanya’. Give a 5-year old boy with ADHD a Red Bull and a box of crayons and tell him to go mental, you still won’t be able to replicate the astonishing variety and depth of imagination demonstrated here LP

Supporting The Letter – Shakespeares – Sat 14th April

Pisco Says: We are honoured to have been asked to play this:

The Letter Says:

Details:

And so, the end is near….

After 10 years together in various guises, THE LETTER (widescreen rock action from The North) have decided to call time on this particular chapter in their lives. HOWEVER, death is not the end and before the re-birth comes a massive celebratory gig at SHAKESPEARES on April 14th that will encompass all the stages in their ‘career’ AND will see the launch of their first (and last) album ‘UNKNOWN FAILURES’.

Shaped over a decade, the LP will feature old favorites alongside four brand new songs.

The final live fling will be an hour long show of our fave tunes and we are honored to have PISCO SOUR HOUR bringing up the rear.

If you are unfamiliar with these local legends, they describe themselves as:

“4 bourgeois idiots, flailing with instruments in a rudimentary, yet somewhat verbose manner”

We would describe them as XTC meets The Fall meets The Partridge Family
(or ‘fecking good’ in simpler terms).

Doors will open at 8pm but if you’ve not been to Shakespeares (Gibraltar Street, near the Law Courts) before or it you’ve not been since it re-opened, get down early as it’s a top-drawer boozer with plenty of interesting beverages to get stuck into!

Door tax will be mere £4, so join us for a rock & roll wake of epic proportions!
