Xmas Pisco Presents – Fri 17th Dec @ Cafe Euro

Ho ho ho, etc, Christmas time is upon us. The year is almost up, the nights draw in and lo, its another Pisco Presents. Rather obviously, this programme of music and distractions is entitled ‘Grotto Of Delights’.

So we had a lovely time during our Grapes stint, but unfortunately even good things come to an end. Onwards! This Pisco Presents will be coming from Cafe Euro which is next to CCC on John Street, off of Bramall Lane (http://www.cafeeuro.org/contact.htm for map). The venue is licensed, has a similar capacity to upstairs at The Grapes. Distractions will be Christmassy and the cheer will be of the good variety. Come on down. Details as follows:

Pisco Sour Hour

Yes us. Fumbling remedially with instrumentation. Banging out some tunes. Gather round our fireside while we relate chilling tales of strange and everyday weirdness, like mentally unfocused and mulled wine impaired idiot offspring of M.R. James.

The Yellow Bellys

Yes, language pedants, I know. Get over it. London’s Yellow Bellys are a banjo, trombone and accordian based troupe who produce a kind of languid, soulful, sexy folky polka stew. Guaranteed to warm the cockles of even the coldest, darkest hearts on a winter’s night.

Listen here:

Carl Woodford

One man and a guitar. Warm, intricate and lush pastoral folk in the finest British tradition, calling to mind the likes of Bert Jansch, Roy Harper, John Martyn, while at the same time retaining a very original approach and outlook. Playing tunes that will make the meanest misers turn to wide eyed full on philanthropy, boshing out turkeys to all and sundry.

Stunning, stuff, check him here:

Friday 17th December (last Friday before Xmas), Cafe Euro. £3.50 on the door. See you there. x
